About Hector Diaz

Hector Diaz was formerly a partner at the national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP for almost twenty years. There, he led the firm’s national white-collar and criminal defense group, handling internal investigations, grand jury probes, and complex, multi-jurisdictional cases for his clients. These included Fortune 500 companies, executives, and public figures. Today, he brings that same exclusive training and strategic rigor to individuals facing serious criminal charges, ensuring every client receives personalized attention and an aggressive defense typically found in a big-firm practice.

Over 25 Years of Experience

After graduating cum laude from Arizona State University in 1995 and earning his J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law in 2000, Hector worked as a Maricopa County Public Defender, where he honed his trial skills representing individuals accused of a wide array of felony and misdemeanor criminal offenses.  In 2003, Hector joined the national law firm, Quarles & Brady. He became known for handling high-stakes criminal matters, representing individuals pending trial in state and federal courts nationally, often securing dismissals or non-prosecution agreements before any charges were filed.

In 2023, Hector founded Diaz Law in Scottsdale, offering the same experience on a more personal scale. From your very first private meeting, he takes the time to understand your story, review every document, and map out a clear defense plan. Whether you’re charged with DUI, a domestic violence offense, or high-stakes crimes like homicide, drug sales, or federal fraud related offenses, Hector moves early and quickly to favorably position you in the face of a criminal investigation/prosecution. This allows Hector to challenge overbroad criminal investigations, preserve critical witness testimony and information, and coordinate with private investigators when needed to preserve your defenses.  The goal being to avoid the filing of criminal charges but preparing for trial if needed.

Hector stays personally involved in every case. He explains (Hector is also fluent in Spanish) each step and remains your main point of contact, with no call screening and no handoffs. When extra knowledge is needed, he brings in outside specialists, such as forensic experts in defense of DUI charges and other areas of criminal expertise, as well as private investigators who are former federal and state law enforcement officers, to ensure that no detail is overlooked.

Over the years, Hector has represented business owners, students, professional athletes, and public/celebrity figures who have faced serious allegations. Having spent years defending individuals criminally charged by Maricopa County and confronting federal criminal investigations nationwide, he has carefully learned how they assess evidence and decide which strategy to pursue in your defense. He uses that insight to tailor your defense, whether that means resolving the matter before charges are filed, negotiating an alternative outcome, or preparing to fight the government.

If you’re facing criminal charges in Scottsdale or anywhere in Maricopa County, early action can make all the difference.
